Rafe is a sadistic bastard who only cares about himself and uses sexual torture to keep Ari in line. He was a total turn-off. Blackmail, kidnapping, sexual torment...the female character needed to call his bluff and walk away. So disappointing at the ending; the author leaves you hanging so you'll buy her next book in the series. This type of guy is un-redeemable. This type of female disgusts me.

Seriously, just don't. I paid zero dollars for this "book" and I still want a refund.

There is no romance. It is NOT a BDSM novel. You don't kidnap and restrain a woman who tells you "no" without a safe word, and you don't leave her alone bound to a bed when you're done with her.

The only likable characters are secondary. The plot is all over the place. The writing - I'm sorry, but "...her chest bone..." Really?

And, THERE IS NO RESOLUTION. Don't keep reading thinking the big decision will be made, because when your kindle says you're 85 percent of the way through, the story ends and you get "treated" to sample chapters of other stories.

If it were possible to give 0 stars, I would do so.

And yeah, the seeds of redemption for the hateful bastard are there - you can't miss them, there's the neon, "He's a nice guy who has been hurt!!!!" sign flashing every few pages. The thing is. I just don't care anymore. My interest slowly waned and then died an abrupt death with the cliff hanger.
After reading this tale and a couple of reviews, what comes to mind is the relevance of what my father taught me. If you want to know if a man loves you, pay attention to actions not his words. It is his actions that will tell you how he truly feels. This story is about a hero whose trust was betrayed by his wife whom he loved and one of his two best friends. He came home early with her favorite flowers in hand to celebrate their anniversary. Only to find them having sex in the marital bed. He was blindsided crushing his dream of having the everlasting love and perfect married like his parents. His wife showed that she desired his money rather than him. To protect his heart, he avoids emotional attachment to women (aside from his mother and sisters). In fact, he has contractual arrangements with women whom he pays significantly to meet his sexual needs and semblance of companionship. While seeking a new mistress, he encounters our heroine who intrigues him. The cat and mouse dance begins. Unfortunately, this tale chronicles their dance. The story would have been better served if it were a 100 pages less rather than a lead into a series.

Our heroine is a sheltered 23-year old who was so focused on her academic success that her socialization was limited to one unsatisfying sexual encounter and no friends. It was basically her and her devoted mother. Unfortunately, tragedy struck and her mother was in a coma. This forced her to drop out of college as she tries to meet the financial demands of her mother's medical expenses. She's naive, unspoiled, inexperienced but full of life and a strong moral code. She faces the morale dilemma of signing on to the mistress proposal that will provide her with financial compensation needed to meet her mother's ever expanding medical expenses at the expense of her morale code. As she is pursued by the wealthy, handsome, sexy, and provocative hero, she becomes increasingly drawn, intrigued, and repulsed compromising her resolve.

The stage is set for inner dialogues by the hero and heroine as well as verbal sparring drenched in their chemistry. Will she relent? Will he realize she isn't worth pursuing? Will he continue to identify her as a conquest or an exception?
Was appalled by the misogynist lead male character. This book relies on overly dramatic and incredibly predictable story line which is not only demeaning but also dangerous to women. I like romance novels but this was the first book I have ever deleted off my kindle as i was so mad. In a nut shell the lead male puts desperate women through a battery of test under the guise of a job interview in order to find a new mistress.

He then blackmails the one that says no, and then when she is very desperate (and all ready rejected him) he forces himself upon her because the sexual tension tells him otherwise. Sorry this isn't romance it is RAPE.

He then continues to pursue her in an attempt to completely break her will - yes the author actually wrote that he wants to break her free will in order to have her completely submissive.

I am not a feminist but this writing offends me.
