I'm pretty certain I will not be reading any more of this series. There is very little character development. The series started off interesting enough, but really took a turn after we find out what they are. Reed goes from a mysterious college boy to an irritatingly possessive middle aged man. It only gets worst as the series goes on. Reed is the least interesting and least likable male character. I was even rooting for the "bad guys" to win Evie over. She does the same thing over and over. Save your self some time and just imagine the same scenario from book one in different locations.Tags : Indebted (The Premonition Series Book 3) - Kindle edition by Amy Bartol. Indebted The Premonition Series Book 3 edition by Amy Bartol Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews
Again I like the originality of this series and the action packed pages. There's so much going on it just keeps you on your feet.
But ugh, like other readers, I am so annoyed by Evie's stubbornness. She keeps making dumb irrational decisions that ultimately puts everyone in danger. Why can't she just let down her pride and let others help her or save her. It is so frustrating to read pages upon pages of her stubbornness. I love her character but hate her at the same time.
Reed - I am def team Reed. Total swoon worthy. I fell even more in love with him in this book. He's def a big reason as to why I keep reading especially with all the horrible dialogue from Brennus. Reed is such a sweetheart and the things he says to Evie just lights me up. He's the only character besides Russell that ignited emotions from me in this series. My heart broke for him in this book. Damn Evie and her stupid decisions.
As for Brennus, I've read that some people root for this guy but I couldn't do it. I tried. Maybe it's his horrible dialogue or whatever but I couldn't bring myself to like him no matter his background or sob story. I guess I'm just not team Brennus. He's just not cutting it for me. I feel like he's too fake like Russell mentioned in the book. I feel like he manipulates Evie to believe he's some sort of good for her. And of course she falls for it. It frustrates me how she actually has feelings for him. He would kill Russell and Reed in a hot second if given the chance. And at the end of the book, it just proves my point that he is pure evil and I'm glad I did not fall for it.
Overall good read. Not my favorite but interesting enough to keep me occupied.
"The angel in me is raging, wanting to suffocate him, like he is doing to me. He is empty bliss. I will free myself from him and then I will kill him."
Once again, Amy has left me breathless. Her world building and character development are captivating, and once it's all said and done, I'm craving more. There are so many twists and turns in this book, hell in this series, and each one is a surprise. Just when you think all is well with our favorite characters, something happens to mess it all up.
In the previous two books, Evie has been through quite a bit and there's no rest for her in this book, either. Not only is she in danger, but so are her friends. I love Reed, I do, but his overprotectiveness pushes Evie to go against his wishes and save her friends all by herself. Sometimes she can be a little frustrating because she's always so self sacrificing, and of course it ends up biting her in the ass.
She is once again found in Brennus' clutches. He's supposed to be the "bad guy" in this scenario, but it's hard to resist his allure. This is where Team Brennus comes into play, I believe, and even though he is seductive, I didn't easily fall for his charm. For Evie, though, it's a different matter. His words and his touch are like poison to her, corrupting her thoughts and her heart, and she's left feeling confused about her loyalties.
"I still feel the shape of his lips against mine as I put my fingers to my mouth, but that is nothing compared with the empty shape he leaves inside my heart."
Thankfully, her ties to Reed cannot be so easily severed. He's not willing to give up, not for a second, and neither are her friends.
"Hold on to the string, love, until the current shifts and we can be together again."
I love how much Evie evolves in this book, her courage and her powers grow stronger each day, and I can't wait for her to be fully evolved. I don't think her powers have even scratched the surface at this point, and I'm anxious to see where the next book will take her. The battle is only beginning, and she will need all the strength and courage she can get to overcome those obstacles. As more beings hear about what she is, the more she will have to fight them off in order to keep her soul.
"You can either live above this mess or you can live under it. Embrace destiny, or be buried by it."
Okay, so you know if the main character has to say "what did you say?" that the Gaelic accent is really bad. I wanted to throw my against the wall. It was bad at the beginning with the accents but then it got better. It turned out to be a good read. I think each book gets a little bit better, than the next. I laughted a lot in this book. Had some funny parts. I'm starting to feel a little bad for Brennus. He really cares about Evie. She does seem to be a little more comfortable with him and opening up than Reed. I'm not sure if she was playing a part or if she was actually being honest.
I was a little surprised to find out that Brenunus wasn't as powerfull as I thought. He does have his limitation. When the Fallen arroved in Ireland to take Evie, he was trying to escape with her and got caught. I would have thought that he would have been a little more cautious. I love the whole fight scene and Reed's fight with Carmius (sp). It's a good series so far. Yes it has some parrells to other stories, but it's different. Hopefully in the next book, now that she's back with Reed, that it will last longer than a day.
I'm pretty certain I will not be reading any more of this series. There is very little character development. The series started off interesting enough, but really took a turn after we find out what they are. Reed goes from a mysterious college boy to an irritatingly possessive middle aged man.
